Harvest Concert – this Saturday

Just in case you haven’t been on the receiving end of Dave’s music email list, there is a free Harvest Concert in White River Junction at the Lyman Point Park bandshell behing the town offices on Saturday, September 30th.

The concert runs from noon until 7PM and features The Gully Boys, The New Nile Orchestra with Ethiopian singer/dancer Kiflu Kidane, Pete Meijer, and Dave (Clark) accompanied by members of Upstream. Sponsors include White River Toyota, Blue Mountain Guitar, Randolph National Bank and PointFM 103.1/107.7 Radio.

Food will be available from The Tastes of Africa and The Ott-Dog. One lucky person will win an acoustic guitar, courtesy of Blue Mountain Guitar.

White River Youth Garden Project volunteers will be on hand to help with the parking as well as site clean-up.

Violins on television

This spring I spent a lot of time choosing a new violin. This involved a lot of trips to the violin shop, each time returning home with another borrowed instrument or bow. It was fun, but after a while it got to be a lot of work giving each candidate enough playing time. My violin teacher and her husband, who is a luthier, patiently helped me through the selection process.

The winner is pictured above. It is labeled “Vissenaire Freres, Lyon” and dated 1876. Who knows — I gather labels get slapped on violins in a fairly cavalier way. I spent more than would seem reasonable to the average citizen, but far less than I might have. I enjoy playing it and that seems to be the point.

On the Radio

One of Dave’s songs will be getting air time on 99 Rock out of Lebanon, NH.

The song is “Thinkin’ Bout U” and it is being aired on this week’s radio show “Water, Oil, Mars” from MoJo Live Radio out of Franconia, New Hampshire.

MoJo Live Radio does a great job of highlighting new music from independent artists from around the world. It is recorded and downloaded to their internet site where it is picked up by independent rock stations all over the world. Check out the radio list on their web site for a station near you.
